Syracuse, N.Y. ― Syracuse point guard Judah Mintz and Bryant guard Doug Edert were ejected in the first half of Saturday’s game at the JMA Wireless Dome after exchanging slaps.

The play occurred with 7:35 left in the first half with Bryant leading 25-17.

Mintz was called for a charge when he drove into the lane. A group of players were tangled up when Mintz appeared to slap Edert.

Edert responded by going after Mintz and slapping the Syracuse freshman on the side of the head from behind.

After a lengthy video review, the referees gave technicals to both Mintz and Edert, and both players were ejected as well.

Syracuse forward John Bol Ajak saw Edert’s slap and immediately charged after the Bryant guard. Ajak was prevented from getting to Edert, but in the melee a pair of Bryant players left the team bench.

Kvonn Cramer, a backup forward, and Tyler Brelsford, a seldom-used guard, were both ejected for leaving the team bench.

Also ejected were SU assistants Adrian Autry and Allen Griffin along with SU director of basketball operations Pete Corasaniti and Bryant assistant Phil Martelli Jr., plus two other Bryant assistant coaches for leaving the bench area.
