Sweden’s Moderate Party wants to change the alcohol law and allow the sale of takeaway wine

The leadership of the Moderates in Sweden wants to change the alcohol law to, among other things, allow people to buy alcohol with their takeaway food.

The proposal from the party leadership will be discussed in the party this week, Swedish Radio reports.

The party leadership proposes to remove the requirement that restaurants must sell food in order to be allowed to serve alcohol and also allows for the purchase of alcohol with the food when ordering takeaway.

“These changes make it easier to order takeaway and actually get the whole experience, including a bottle of wine,” politician Oliver Rosengren stated.

In addition, the party wants to allow more people to sell alcohol. For example, hair salons that want to do a bridal set-up could be allowed to offer a glass of wine to the customer.

Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren of the Social Democrats is skeptical and says that liberalization of the alcohol law will lead to more abuse and violence in the home.
