Susan Boyle has announced she suffered a minor stroke which left her doubting whether she could perform.
The Britain’s Got Talent legend who found fame on the programme in 2009 returned alongside the cast of Les Misérables for a stunning performance.
After belting out I Dreamed A Dream which saw the Scottish icon catapulted to global fame, Susan beamed as the audience in the Eventim Apollo gave her and the Les Mis cast a standing ovation.
Following her performance, the star opened up to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly about her disappearance from the showbiz circuit and explained that she had suffered a stroke.
Susan Boyle has revealed she suffered a minor stroke last year
“Susan, it is so lovely to see you, welcome,” gushed Dec before he added: “It’s hard to believe that you appeared on this show in 2009, 14 years ago.
“How does it feel to be back at BGT?”
The 62-year-old responded: “It feels great,” which saw the audience give her a loud cheer as she continued: “It’s really good.
“It’s extra special for me actually, last April there, I suffered a minor stroke and I thought it’d be crazy to be back on stage and I have done it.”
Show boss Simon Cowell went on to praise Susan and revealed that he had known the singing sensation had been unwell during her secret health struggles.
Susan appeared alongside the cast of Les Mis
Susan often keeps a low profile when she’s not working and very rarely gives fans an insight into her life but last month made a super rare appearance as she reunited with Peter Kay.
The pair posed for a photo together as she visited the Phoenix Nights star during his live comedy tour, Peter Kay Live! in Glasgow.
The photo sees Scottish singer Susan smiling as Peter wraps an arm around Susan as she pair grin at the camera.
Susan is wearing a tweed coat and a grey top while comedian Peter is sporting a bright blue shirt and black blazer as he is wearing a hands-free microphone.
As Susan’s official Instagram page posted the photo, they shared it alongside a photo of the pair’s single cover image for their Comic Relief track, I Know Him So Well.
The caption then read: “A reunion 12 years in the making! Susan Boyle & Peter Kay back together again after she went to see his hilariously brilliant show ‘Peter Kay Live’ in Glasgow.
“How has it been 12 years since their Comic Relief video came out?!”
