The U.S. Senate is close to a final vote on a bill to fund aid to Ukraine and Israel, reports Reuters.

Today, the Senate passed a successful procedural vote, removing the last obstacle to final consideration of the bill. The final vote on the Ukraine-Israel aid bill is expected in the coming days.

The document provides $61 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel in its war against Hamas, and nearly $5 billion to support partners in the Indo-Pacific region, including Taiwan, to deter Chinese aggression.

U.S. assistance to Ukraine

The U.S. has run out of funds previously allocated to support Ukraine. A new funding package, requested by U.S. President Joe Biden, is to be allocated by the U.S. Congress. However, this request has been under consideration since last October and has only recently begun to move forward.

Recently, the U.S. Senate took up consideration of a bill to allocate funds to support Ukraine and Israel. However, after approval in the Senate, the bill still needs to be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives, which has been creating problems on the way to considering Biden’s funding request. Recently, Biden called the delay in helping Ukraine “criminal neglect” and urged Congress to pass the bill as soon as possible.

At the same time, former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump called on Republicans in Congress not to support the allocation of money to Ukraine.
