Surprise! Prince Harry Showed Up in London This Morning for a Court Hearing

Everyone’s been obsessing over whether or not Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be at King Charles’ upcoming coronation, but surprise! Harry just popped up in London for an event that has nothing to do with his family, making an appearance at London’s High Court on Monday morning for a privacy hearing against Associated Newspapers.

According to the BBC, Harry and several other high profile claimants have accused Associated Newspapers of unlawful information gathering, allegations which the publisher calls “preposterous smears.”

The preliminary hearing will last four days, and it’s unclear if Harry will stay in England throughout, or if his appearance today was a one-time thing. It’s also unclear where Harry’s staying since he and Meghan are being evicted from Frogmore Cottage…though they technically have access to it for a few more weeks.

Another pretty obvious question mark? Whether Prince Harry will make time to see his estranged family on this trip. Things have been tense (to say the very least) since the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare and the premiere of the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, and at the moment the couple isn’t on speaking terms with the rest of the royals.

Royal commenter Louise Roberts recently told Sky News Australia, via The Sun, that the family is “terrified” of talking to Meghan and Harry, explaining, “The problem is that anyone who could be close to them, for example, William and Kate, won’t tell them anything. Everyone’s terrified…everything’s for sale—every indiscretion or every aside comment could be magnified for an American audience in order to get them a profit.”
