Israeli Embassy’s ‘strong-worded’ letter to India over Sanjay Raut’s ‘Hitler’ post
The Israeli Embassy on Friday lodged a strong protest against India over Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut’s post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
In its strong-worded letter to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the Israeli Embassy expressed disappointment over Rajya Sabha MP’s “anti-Semitic” comments justifying Holocaust against the Jewish community.
On November 14, Sanjay Raut reshared a report about the challenging situation in a Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital, adding his own comments in Hindi. The comment roughly translated to “he now understands why Hitler hated Jews so much”.
The Rajya Sabha MP, however, deleted his tweet following a severe backlash.
The report reshared by Sanjay Raut showed premature babies screaming at the Al-Shifa Hospital following Israel’s offensive. “Premature babies are screaming in Al-Shifa hospital. The power to the incubator in which they were kept has been cut off by Israel. Armed forces have surrounded the hospital from all sides. No food items, milk, or water are allowed inside the hospital,” the report stated.
The Holocaust was the genocide of European Jews during World War II. Between 1941 and 1945, Nazi Germany and its collaborators systematically killed around 60 lakh Jews across German-occupied Europe by locking them in a gas chamber.
