Also known as Eka Pada Rajakapotasana, this pose is often performed by actresses like Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Malaika Arora. But if you are unable to nail this powerhouse of health benefits, celebrity yoga instructor Anshuka Parwani has shared a demonstration Reel video on Instagram.

Anshuka Parwani, who is a trainer to new mom Alia Bhatt, recently posted a short video on her Instagram handle where she demonstrated the Pigeon Pose and shared a step-wise guide for all her followers. Sitting on a yoga mat, she is seen performing the pose while detailing its health benefits in the caption. These included:

1. Improved posture
2. Alignment
3. Stretching hip flexors and lower back
4. Improved digestion
5. Peristalsis
6. Treating urinary disorders
7. Stimulating internal organs

“Pigeon Pose, also known as the ‘king of hip openers’, is super helpful to stretch and increase flexibility in the hip and lower back muscles. It also increases the range of motion in the leg and hip areas. It aids to reduce stiffness in the back and shoulders and opens up the chest muscles which in turn improves breathing. Pro tip: Avoid practising this asana if you have any injury in the spine, legs, hips and shoulders,” Parwani captioned the post.

Along with the video, she shared a pro tip for people and said for those with a spine, leg, hips or shoulder injury, Pigeon pose should be ignored.
