Strictly Come Dancing has made history as it paired Rose Ayling-Ellis with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.
EastEnders actress Rose, who plays Frankie Lewis on the BBC One soap opera, is the first deaf contestant in the show’s history.
Speaking ahead of her partner being announced, Rose revealed how proud she was to break new ground for the show and the deaf community.
The actress said the response from the deaf community has been positive and is so pleased to bring that representation.
Rose will be accompanied by an interpreter throughout training and during the shows.
The EastEnders actress joked that it would be “creepy” having them watching but is still delighted.
Meeting in a square in the East End of London, Rose was delighted to meet her professional dance partner: Giovanni Pernice.
The Italian professional dancer has previously been paired with the likes of Georgia May Foote, Laura Whitmore, Debbie McGee, Faye Tozer, Michelle Visage, and Ranvir Singh.
Rose took Giovanni to enjoy some traditional East End cuisine before they had a short dance and hug together.
The pair met in the studio too and discussed their plans for training with host Claudia Winkleman.
