Steelers OT Troy Fautanu used mostly as RT on day one of rookie minicamp
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted offensive tackle Troy Fautanu out of Washington in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. And on his first day of rookie minicamp, the Steelers seem to have an idea of where they want him to play.
Fautanu said he spent the majority of his day taking reps at right tackle, but added he doesn’t know 100 percent if that will be where the Steelers will keep him.
While he spent the vast majority of his career at left tackle at Washington, he also took reps at left guard and right tackle. Fautanu himself said that he is comfortable playing anywhere on the offensive line in his introductory press conference.
While it is only the first day of minicamp, Fautanu being utilized mostly as a right tackle, combined with the fact that the Steelers have reiterated multiple times this offseason that they want Broderick Jones to be a left tackle- that gives you a good idea of what they want their offensive line to look like.
