Stardew Valley 1.6.5. Patch Notes

  • Stardew Valley’s 1.6.5. update fixes crashes in mines and broken NPCs due to mods, improving player experience.
  • ConcernedApe continues to support Stardew Valley with bug fixes and updates, setting the stage for console and mobile releases.
  • While multiplayer expansion is exclusive to PC, other features from Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update will be available on all platforms.

Stardew Valley has received its 1.6.5. update, and with it, patch notes explaining what was changed have been released. This is just the latest in a series of updates made to the game since Stardew Valley received the major 1.6 content update in March.

Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update was a big one, adding new content, events, dialogue, and more to the indie farming and life sim. While many fans are looking forward to ConcernedApe’s next game, Haunted Chocolatier, the developer keeps returning to Stardew Valley to fix bugs or add new things. While some of the prior smaller updates have surprised players by adding new things like mine layouts, this one focuses on fixing bugs for players of both vanilla and modded versions of the game.

Gamer Makes Custom Stardew Valley Version of Clue

A gamer creates a custom version of the classic Clue board game set in the world of Stardew Valley, capturing the attention of the gaming community.

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone announced the new update to the game on Steam, revealing what fixes have been made in the 1.6.5. patch. The patch fixes a problem in Stardew Valley’s mines that would cause the game to crash upon loading some dark levels. Additionally, the dev looked into an issue players were having since 1.6.4. launched that would cause modded versions of the game to crash or cause saves to not load properly. According to the notes, these crashes were primarily due to villager NPCs becoming broken due to mods being added and removed. The patch resolves it by deleting the NPCs until they’re added back into the game’s data.

With a game update as big as 1.6, it’s understandable that some glitches and bugs would get through. While these patches help to ensure that players have a smooth and pleasant gaming experience, they’re also laying down the groundwork for the eventual console and mobile updates. Those updates have no release date at this time, but the developer has previously stated that he’s hard at work on them, and they’ll release as soon as possible. Getting these issues out of the way now on the PC version should help to prevent major issues from occurring when players on systems like the PlayStation and Switch get the 1.6 Stardew Valley update.

It’s worth noting for those still eagerly awaiting the update’s release on other platforms, however, that the game will be missing one key feature that PC players got. Stardew Valley’s multiplayer was expanded in version 1.6, allowing up to eight players to participate at the same time. However, this particular component will be left out of the update for consoles and phones. Thankfully, everything else included in the update is allegedly coming to all versions of the game.

Stardew Valley 1.6.5. Patch Notes

After quickly fixing a few issues with 1.6.4, we are now on 1.6.5.

This one fixes a rare crash that could happen in the mines.

It should also help with some people who use mods that were having trouble loading their saves after 1.6.4.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed crash when loading dark mine levels in some cases.
  • Broken villager NPCs (usually due to a removed mod) are now deleted on load. They’ll respawn when they’re re-added to the data.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a hit Indie release that spawned a cult following thanks to its similarities to titles like Harvest Moon and The Sims. Players will take control of their own characters as they are dropped into the eponymous Stardew Valley and given an old dilapidated farm. They’ll cultivate new crops and relationships with the NPCs scattered around the area, as well as combat monsters and embark on other quests.
