Ahsoka, and other live-action Star Wars shows such as The Mandalorian and another spin-off dubbed Rangers of the New Republic, will, ‘culminate in a climatic story event,’ said LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy at the Disney Investor Day last December.
While it’s currently unclear who Sakhno will play, she will star alongside who beloved characters in the Star Wars canon.
Rosario Dawson will return as the Togruta title character, Ahsoka Tano, who made her live-action debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
Ahsoka was originally featured in the 2008 movie Star Wars: The Clone wars, the animated TV series of the same name, and the animated Star Wars Rebels, voiced by Ashley Eckstein.
Ahsoka was the Jedi Padawan learner to Annakin Skywalker in the animated film and series, with Hayden Christensen, who played Annakin in the prequel trilogy, set to reprise his role in this new series.
It was also revealed earlier this month that Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels.
Sabine Wren was voiced by Tiya Sircar in Star Wars Rebels, which ran for four seasons on Disney XD.
Production is being eyed for a March 2022 start, though it’s unclear when the show may debut on Disney Plus.
Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: Clone Wars creator Dave Filoni created the new Ahsoka series, and he’ll executive produce with The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau.
After starring in a number of films and TV shows in her native Ukraine, Sakhno was first noticed by American audiences in 2018’s Pacific Rim: Uprising.
She also starred in the 2018 action-comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me alongside Mila Kunis, Kate McKinnon and Justin Theroux.
She also played Kat Monroe in the Hulu TV series adaptation of High Fidelity and starred in the Russian film Let It Snow.
She’ll next be seen in the upcoming mini-series The Reunion with Ioan Gruffudd and Rupert Graves.
