Als abtretender Politiker kriegt Österreichs Ex-Kanzler Sebastian Kurz nur noch sechs Monate Lohn. Doch das dürfte ihm egal sein. Denn er steht offenbar mit Top-Firmen im Gespräch, die einiges mehr zahlen würden.

Nach seinem Rücktritt von allen politischen Ämtern werden die staatlichen Lohnzahlungen für den ehemaligen österreichischen Kanzler Sebastian Kurz (35) bald versiegen. Schon 1997 wurden dauerhafte Renten für Politiker in Österreich abgeschafft. Zuvor konnte der Anspruch auf eine Politikerpension durch vierjährige Tätigkeit in einer Regierung oder acht- bis zehnjährige Mitgliedschaft im Parlament oder einem Landtag erworben werden.

Kurz war von 2017 bis 2019 und erneut von 2020 bis 2021 österreichischer Kanzler. Am 9. Oktober reichte er wegen Ermittlungen der Wirtschafts- und Korruptionsstaatsanwaltschaft gegen ihn den Rücktritt ein.

Hohe Rente in der Schweiz?

Eine Rente bis ans Lebensende kann der Ex-Kanzler also nicht erwarten. Auf Anfrage von Blick heisst es beim Bundeskanzleramt in Wien: «Als Bundeskanzler hat Sebastian Kurz keinen Anspruch auf Fortzahlung der Bezüge, weil er sein Nationalratsmandat angenommen hat.»

Sebastian Kurz kann sich trösten: Mit einer solchen kurzen Amtszeit bekäme auch ein Schweizer Bundesrat keine Rente. In der Schweiz wird erst nach vier Jahren Amtszeit eine Pension bezahlt. Aber dann richtig: Zurzeit sind das 227’290 Franken pro Jahr, was der Hälfte eines Bundesratslohns entspricht. Vorstösse, diese Rente abzuschaffen, sind bisher gescheitert.

Ganz leer wird Kurz aber nicht ausgehen. Laut «Ö24» winken ihm sechs Monate lang 75 Prozent seines letzten Gehalts als Fraktionschef der ÖVP im Nationalrat – ein Amt, das er nach dem Rücktritt als Kanzler übernahm. Zudem kommen das Weihnachts- und Urlaubsgeld dazu, was ein weiteres Monatsgehalt ausmacht. Kurz kassierte zuletzt 15’153 Euro, nun werden es also noch sieben Mal 11’365 Euro sein. Konkret: 79’555 Euro.

Ob er diese Rente allerdings je in Anspruch nimmt, ist offen. Kurz hatte bei seiner Information über den Rückzug angekündigt, dass er bald eine neue Stelle antreten werde. Österreichische Medien spekulieren derweil, dass der Ex-Kanzler einen Job bei Google, Facebook oder Axel Springer übernehmen könnte. Auch ein weiteres Gerücht soll in ÖVP-Kreisen kursieren: Kurz könnte an die Stanford University in Kalifornien gehen – als Sprungbrett fürs Silicon Valley. (gf)
