Brooklyn man accused of DISMEMBERING a drug dealing child molester claims he never even knew the victim - after his wife told police he IS responsible for body parts found in their freezer

Nicholas McGee was accused of murder by his wife Heather Stines following her arrest Monday when body parts were found in her freezer  The Brooklyn man claimed he was not even around when sex offending drug dealer Kawsheen Gelzer was killed Police sources told DailyMail.com Stines remains a person of interest in the slaying, but maintains that the guilt lays with her husband

A Brooklyn man accused by his wife of killing a drug dealing child molester told family he is innocent and wasn’t even around when the victim was chopped up and tossed in his freezer, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

Nicholas McGee, a suspect in the killing and dismembering of 40-year-old Kawsheen Gelzer, has been locked in Chesapeake, Virginia since September on an unrelated check fraud case.

Gelzer’s head and other body parts were discovered Monday in several plastic bags, after cops received a tip.

Heather Stines, a 45-year-old drug addict who lived with her husband in the apartment in Flatbush, was charged Thursday with concealment of a human corpse and remains a person of interest in the homicide, which police say apparently stemmed from a dispute over drugs.

But Stines is blaming her husband, saying he killed the man before his arrest in Virginia, police sources have told DailyMail.com.

A relative of McGee told DailyMail.com that she spoke with him by phone late Wednesday, read him a DailyMail.com article on the case, and asked him whether he had anything to do with it.

Speaking to her from behind bars, McGee denied having anything to do with the killing, chopping or concealment, and claimed he had idea who Gelzer was.

‘I said to him, ‘Do you want me to read the article to you? Because this is saying that she is implicating you, and there’s now a picture of you out there. When I read the (victim’s) name, he said he didn’t know who that was. I read it to him completely and he was still saying, ‘No, that didn’t happen.’’

‘He didn’t admit anything to us,’ the relative added. ‘He said he’s been in jail and that it didn’t happen before when he was out.’

McGee told her that he was due to be released on Feb. 4, and that the NYPD had yet to contact him as of their phone call.

‘I told him that if the NYPD comes and they want to detain you, they can because she is implicating you,’ she told DailyMail.com.

His wife Stines, after being interrogated by detectives, was taken to Brookdale Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Stines told police her husband killed Gelzer in September, then chopped him up and put the pieces in the freezer.

‘She has said that, and we believe it to be true,’ a source said, adding that the case was being investigated as a suspected drug-related homicide.

‘She’s saying it was her husband, but he’s in jail and she’s there with a dead body,’ another police source said.

Asked if they believed McGee killed Gelzer the second source said: ‘Could be. I don’t think she would have been able to chop up the body by herself.

‘Maybe they were together… we don’t know how long this guy has been in the fridge.’

Gelzer was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, contact by forcible compulsion, that he committed on August 8, 2004, criminal records show.

NYPD confirmed that they were called to the apartment on Nostrand Avenue in Brooklyn at 7.10 p.m. Monday.

Once there, sources said officers saw a suspiciously taped up refrigerator that Stines was adamant they didn’t open it as they tried to inspect it.

Stines was arrested when she tried to stop the officers from looking inside.

Officers found the body parts inside black plastic bags inside both the fridge and freezer and removed them from the apartment for DNA testing.

Gelzer was identified from his distinctive gang tattoos that matched arrest records.

The medical examiner was still working to determine a cause of death, which has been delayed because they ‘have to wait for [parts of] the body to thaw out,’ a source said.

Stines’s elderly aunt, Amy Stines, expressed her shock and horror at the news when reached on Tuesday.

‘Oh God, I just can’t fathom this,’ the 79-year-old from Kentucky told DailyMail.com.

She said her niece has had longstanding drug problems and moved from Kentucky six years ago hoping to escape her problems.

Relatives of McGee said he is also a drug addict with a criminal history, who was locked up most recently in September after he was accused of trying to cash a fraudulent check in a bank.
