Springsteen will help honor Bon Jovi at MusiCares Person of the Year tribute
The annual MusiCares Person of the Year dinner will pay tribute to Jon Bon Jovi, and Bruce Springsteen will be among the musicians honoring the fellow Jersey rock icon. The dinner will take place ahead of the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles Feb. 2.
It was announced in October that Bon Jovi, 61, was this year’s honoree, recognizing his decades of philanthropic work, most notably his Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation, “an organization dedicated to disrupting the cycle of hunger, poverty and homelessness,” according to MusiCares. The foundation’s JBJ Soul Kitchens, a series of non-profit community restaurant, operate in Red Bank and Toms River as well as campus dining in Newark (Rutgers-Newark) and Jersey City (New Jersey City University).
In a previous statement, Bon Jovi said he was “truly humbled to be this year’s MusiCares honoree.”
Comedian Jim Gaffigan will host the event, while presenters will include Gayle King and Kylie Minogue.
Other performers from the star-studded lineup include Shania Twain, Melissa Etheridge, Brandy Clark, Jason Isbell, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, the War and Treaty, Damiano David of Måneskin, Goo Goo Dolls and Marcus King. Bon Jovi is also set to perform himself.
“Jon Bon Jovi is a rock ‘n’ roll trailblazer, influencing countless artists over the years,” Laura Segura, MusiCares’ executive director, said in a statement. “MusiCares is honored to pay tribute to him as our 2024 Person of the Year. Bon Jovi has also lent his life’s work to philanthropic efforts that align with the health and human services mission of MusiCares, forever changing the lives of those in need.”
