PSV must close two stands on the orders of UEFA
9:15 pm At the next European home match of PSV, two stands in the Philips Stadium must remain empty. This has been determined by the UEFA disciplinary committee following the disturbances last week in the home match against Galatasaray (5-1) in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. PSV must also pay a fine of 1500 euros.
Boxes G and H must remain closed during the next European match. “Shortly before halftime, there was some unrest in those areas after a goal from Galatasaray,” explains general manager Toon Gerbrands. “It is a pity that an entire profession is now being victimized by a few people who have sold on their season tickets. We will take action against them.”

AZ grants most playing time to players from its own training
4:09 PM: For the sixth year in a row, AZ is the Eredivisie club that makes the most use of homegrown players. In the 2020-2021 season, more than 39 percent of all playing minutes in the competition were made by football players from the club’s youth academy. The club is in twentieth position across Europe, according to figures from CIES Football Observatory.
After number one comes Ajax with 37 percent, FC Twente with 32 percent and Feyenoord with more than 31 percent. In a European context, the Alkmaarders are joint twentieth. The Slovak MSK Zilina leads the list with 61.5 percent.
Compared to clubs from the seven best leagues, to which the Netherlands belongs, only the Spanish clubs Athletic Bilbao, Celta de Vigo and Real Sociedad, with scores of around 50 percent, do better than the Alkmaar club.
The observatory analyzes football statistics, such as the number of minutes played by its own youth in first teams. The Swiss-based research agency applies the rule that a player between the age of 15 and 21 must have played for the club for at least three years.
