He is swinging through the cinemas again from today: Spider-Man! Subway watched Spider Man: No Way Home at the start in December… and was quite surprised. It only took a few days before the big film immediately disappeared from the cinema due to the umpteenth lockdown. After the corona press conference, the spectacle can now be seen again.

Spider Man: No Way Home is Subways Film Review of the Week. We had honestly expected in December that the release would be postponed due to the corona measures at the time (cinemas had to close at 5 p.m. at that time). But no, Universal Pictures awarded the film lover a great title.

Spider-Man takes quite a long time

Spider Man: No Way Home is a long seat is already the warning (if you go to a cinema without a break). The superhero takes quite a long time in this adventure to save the day. 2 hours and 28 minutes to be exact.

Global Tech News Daily

Because saving, that’s what Spider-Man, often also written as Spiderman, is about. In dozens of comics, a TV series, cartoons, one Broadway musical (with music by U2) and nine films before, Spider-Man has been saving what can be saved since 1962. The first film was ‘only’ released in 1977 (then not until 2002) and now we are with Spider Man: No Way Home on to movie number ten. However, there is a big difference. Spider-Man has to save himself this time.

Everyone knows who Spider-Man is

Because in case you don’t know (anymore): Spider-Man – a role of Tom Holland for the third time – has been unmasked as Peter Parker. In a video by Mysterio, another hero he is said to have killed. Our friendly superhero can no longer separate his normal teenage life from his other status. The status in his spider suit (a cool new outfit we should say), full of super powers, after he once got a bite from a radio-active spider.

Global Tech News Daily

Spider-Man suddenly has public opinion and one TV channel in particular against him in this film. The latter channel, incidentally, starts with that the former hero is ‘the spider in the criminal web’. Ouch, you think, if these are the word finds. Then comes Subway over it with a gossamer review. Fortunately, it stays with that pun. Public opinion is against it, because Mysterio has been given superhero status posthumously.

Magic of the secret must be restored

What Spider-Man in No Way Home to do is restore the magic of his secret. To do this, he enlists Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), who has to fix it with a magic spell. However, the sometimes clumsy nerd Peter Parker disrupts the job. This opens a dangerous rift in the universe and super-villains from other realities slip out. They have already taken on all kinds of Spider-Man variants in the past (we won’t reveal anything about that).

There is more at stake for Peter Spider-Man Parker than ever before. He faces what it really means to be that (former) hero. To his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya Coleman) he declares with a frugal smile: “I am now the most famous person on earth. And still poor.” That is also the great strength of all those Spider-Man adventures of course. This boy is very human. No matter how many street pits he closes with a cobweb. No matter how many hideous monsters he razes to the ground.

A Spider-Man full of surprises

Nice surprises in this one Spider Man: No Way Home promises the headline of this movie review. But do you get a glimpse of that? New! In that regard, you will say that this article is of no use to you at all. Still: just go and have a look after the past not so nice times when there was so little to do in the evening, is the tip. Promise: You won’t be disappointed unless you don’t like superheroes.

Before the film starts, there is a funny speech from some of the protagonists to please don’t ‘spoiler’. “But you’re a spoiler yourself, aren’t you?” is a question with a wink from Tom Holland to Jamie Foxx. So don’t spoiler, because we don’t like to contradict Spider-Man, whatever nice guy he is. What you do get is often beautifully done computer animations from the Marvel Studios. One decent tearjerker and a lot of funny scenes and dialogues. A good Tom Holland and an equally good and beautiful Zendaya (‘only’ 113 million followers on Instagram). Alfred Molina who stars as Doctor Octopus. And what Subway involves two surprises. Whether the latter two will hold up is still unclear. That’s what the makers of Spider Man: No Way Home then cleverly done. Because with that they can actually start superhero film number 11.

Do you want to get some income first? Netflix currently has the predecessor on offer, Far From Home from 2019.

Rating out of 5: 4.
