Short track speed skater Julian Macaraeg failed to advance in the 500-meter and 1500-meter events in the second part of the ISU World Cup Series held in Nagoya, Japan on Thursday.
In his first event in the 1500m heats, Macaraeg registered 2:46.107 to finish fifth in Heat 5. Only the top two skaters from each race and 14 fastest third placers qualified for the quarterfinals.
In the 500m preliminaries, Macaraeg’s results registered “no time” after he slipped in the middle of the race.
He will still compete in the 1000m event scheduled on Friday.
The World Cup Series is part of the qualification scheme for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China.
