Due to the tourism growth in Morocco, many Spanish hotel firms are becoming more interested in expanding their business here. In recent years, major chains like Barceló, Riu, Iberostar, and Meliá have started to capitalize on the country’s tourism boom to sustain their growth amidst intense competition in Europe, Asia, and America.
As Morocco aims to surpass its previous record for tourists this year, these hotel chains’ s success will only grow bigger. El Pais Spanish media said that these four companies currently operate eighteen hotels and have plans to expand in that area.
In 2023, Morocco’s tourism industry showed remarkable resilience in the global tourism sector, outpacing competitors and registering greater growth rates, despite the devastating September earthquake in Al Haouz.
Although the European nation is profiting from this upsurge, Morocco’s rapid economic expansion is posing a threat to Spain’s travel industry.
According to elEconomista, Spain is struggling to deal with the mounting threat posed by its neighbor’s expanding attraction as Morocco establishes itself as a direct competitor in luring tourists.
