Deion Sanders was on the job at Colorado for about an hour before 2025 five-star receiver Winston Watkins Jr. pledged to play for the new coach.
The decision came a few weeks after he backed off his commitment to play at Texas A&M, and lasted nearly a year until he backed off his Colorado commitment this past November. He later revealed that he was unsure if Sanders would be the head coach at Colorado by the time he got on campus.
On Monday, Watkins revealed which programs he will be taking trips to this spring and has quite the list of schools he will be seeing. Most notably, Colorado is not one of them.
Watkins will be taking trips to Florida, Clemson, Pitt, Syracuse, Indiana, Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida State, Texas, and Oregon. Based on how many twists and turns there have been in his recruitment, there is no telling who the favorite is.
It is worth noting that Watkins, who spent the past two seasons at IMG Academy has transferred to First Baptist Academy in Naples Florida. He has been on the varsity scene since he was an eighth grader as he played for Fort Myers (Fla.) Evangelical Christian.
