Wednesday is mostly known as the mid-point of the week, when we’re all just a little bit closer to Friday.
But now, thanks to Southwest Airlines, Wednesdays have new meaning.
The budget airline has just launched a new weekly program it has dubbed “Wanna Go Wednesdays” and here’s the gist: Starting today, May 1, customers can visit Southwest’s website every Wednesday to take advantage of special low fares.
“Customers have a whole new reason to look forward to the weekdays. Wanna Go Wednesdays is a new weekly program that allows customers to book the latest low fares on routes that are still available for last-minute bookings,” Jennifer Bridie, vice president of marketing communications & strategy for Southwest Airlines, said in a statement. “We think this is a great way to highlight some spontaneous travel destinations at low fares for our customers.”
Just how good will the deals really be though? Here’s a sample of the fares and routes for today’s kick-off Wednesday:
- As low as $69 one-way nonstop between Las Vegas and Long Beach, California
- As low as $89 one-way nonstop between Denver and Phoenix
- As low as $89 one-way nonstop between Dallas (Love Field) and New Orleans
- As low as $109 one-way nonstop between Baltimore/Washington (BWI) and Detroit
- As low as $109 one-way nonstop between Atlanta and Orlando
Southwest also recently announced that it plans to start red-eye flights for the first time in its 57-year history. The first such flights will be from Las Vegas and Hawaii. No formal date has been confirmed for the launch of the new flights.
