South Korean drone company eyes collab with PH for advanced tech exchange
YEONCHEON-GUN, South Korea — A South Korean drone company, with the support of its government, is expanding its influence and ready to share information and resources with other Asian nations, including the Philippines.
The Yeoncheon Closed School Utilized Drone Education Center is recognized as one of the leading developers of drone technology. It houses top-of-the-line drone equipment designed, tested, and utilized for training in South Korea’s agricultural sector, military operations, and police activities.
Headed by former South Korean military officer Kim Hyung Jun, who now leads Asseda, a specialized drone company, the designated drone training center in Yeoncheon produces and certifies drone operators and instructors. The educational focus of the Yeoncheon drone facility has equipped them with a wealth of experience and knowledge compared to other drone companies. Presently, the Yeoncheon Drone Training Center provides opportunities for testing and trials of ultralight flight devices, such as pesticide drones, and imparts insights on forest and rural area pest control, as well as livestock disease prevention using professional drone pest controllers.
According to Kim Hyung Jun, drones could be instrumental in aiding farms, especially during periods when lands are significantly impacted by the El Niño phenomenon.
Beyond its application in South Korea’s agricultural landscape, drone technology plays a crucial role in bolstering the country’s military and security operations, especially in light of North Korea’s continuous threat to the Korean Peninsula through its short-range missile launches.
Kim Hyung Jun emphasized, “The developments in drone technology will be instrumental in enhancing the security of the Korean Peninsula, given the divided nature of Korea and the tensions between the two Koreas. Drones are viewed as valuable assets for national defense.”
