Some COVID restrictions are easing in Victoria today. Here's what you can now do

It’s a milestone day in Victoria.

Here we have hit the 80 per cent first dose vaccination mark for the population aged over 16 and it means some restrictions are easing.

Here’s what can you now do.

Lockdown radius expands

In Melbourne and regional areas in lockdown, the 10-kilometre travel restriction today becomes a 15km travel restriction.

This means you can travel a little further for essential shopping or to exercise.

Recreation a focus of eased restrictions

In metropolitan Melbourne and regional areas in lockdown, contactless recreation is now allowed.

This includes activities like boating and sports like tennis and golf.

At gyms, personal training is now possible in groups of up to five fully vaccinated people in an outdoor space with a vaccinated trainer.

While parents will celebrate the easing of playground restrictions with masks now able to be removed to eat and drink.

Some regional restrictions also lifting

In areas of regional Victoria which are not in lockdown, hospitality venues will see the cap on diners increase from 20 to 30 people outdoors.

While facials and beard trimming are back, masks can now be removed for services that require it.

When do the rules next change?

The Victorian government has announced schools will begin to transition back to onsite learning from October 5, while the next larger change in the COVID-19 rules will occur when 70 per cent of the state has been double vaccinated, which is expected in late October.
