It just may happen again now that Great Jones has partnered with Fellow, a trendy and celeb-approved electric kettle maker, for a limited edition release of the Great Fellow Kettle. Here’s what it’s all about—and why you should consider buying now before they’re gone.
About the Great Fellow Kettle
Great Fellow Kettle is the existing Fellow Stagg EKG design with Great Jones’s signature colors—a deep green Broccoli kettle and base with a Mustard button to power on/off and control the temperature.
When we tested some of the best electric kettles on the market, the Fellow Stagg EKG was among our favorites. I’ve also personally owned it for over a year, using it twice a day and recommending it to every tea and coffee drinker I know.
The Great Fellow Kettle holds 0.9 liters of water (enough for two generous cups) and features a temperature knob, built-in stopwatch and the ability to hold a temperature for a full 60 minutes. The pour spout is steady and easily controlled, so it’s perfect for pour-over coffee.
What we like about Great Fellow Kettle
Fellow makes some of the most attractive kettles you can buy. We’ve tested both the matte black and white versions (in gooseneck and standard pour variations) and found they offer an elegant touch to any countertop—something that’s especially important when you consider they’ll live there full time.
While I love my matte white model for how it blends into my minimalist kitchen, the Great Fellow Kettle kicks it up a notch in the style department, offering a fun, bold appliance that’s made to stand out.
The great design extends to its ergonomic handle, which makes for easy pouring (just wrap your thumb around the notch) even when the gooseneck limits how quickly the water comes out.
I also really enjoy how the kettle remembers my desired temperature day after day, even if it’s been turned off. Instead of adjusting the knob each time, all it takes is one push of a button to start boiling.
What we don’t like
Our complaints about the Fellow Stagg EKG are minor. First, it took the longest to boil out of any kettle we tested—7-and-a-half minutes to bring 55°F water to 212°F. Still, it’s never been an issue in practice and starting off with warm water out of the tap can speed up the process.
Also, it lacks any sort of beep or audible sign that the water has finished boiling. I have been known to turn it on and forget about it accidentally, but the kettle holds its temperature for a full hour, so it’s rare that I have to start from scratch and boil again.
Should you buy the Great Fellow Kettle?
Absolutely. We stand behind the Fellow Stagg EKG on its own. Throw in fun, trendy colors from Great Jones—a brand we already love for its other cookware—and it’s a no-brainer. Plus, it would make a great gift if you’re able to snag one before the holiday rush hits.
If you’re in the market for other fun Great Jones products, The Dutchess Dutch oven, Hot Dish casserole dish and The Fry Family nonstick skillets are among our favorites.
