India vs England: Stuart Broad proud of England’s Bazball, says approach a proven success in all countries
Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad is proud of the way Ben Stokes and his Test team have played with their fearless approach, popularly dubbed as Bazball. Broad said the refreshing approach, which has certainly made watching the England Test team more enjoyable, has proved its mettle, working in all conditions, including the subcontinent.
Stuart Broad was part of the Bazball revolution until he retired from Test cricket at the end of Ashes last year. England have gone on to prove naysayers wrong, producing positive results with their much-talked-about Bazball. After conquering Pakistan 3-0 in a series in Pakistan, Bazball’s biggest challenge was touted to be the India series.
England went 1-0 by stunning India in the Test series opener in Hyderabad as they walked the talk with their Bazball approach. From gutsy batting approach to tackle the Indian spinners to backing their young spin attack, England have ticked the right boxes even though they lost the second Test by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam.
With the series tied at 1-1 ahead of the 3rd Test, scheduled to get underway in Rajkot on February 15, Broad said the Hyderabad Test victory is one of England’s most memorable performances in the recent past.
“I love it. The series is one-all (1-1) at the moment, but I think Bazball has proven that it can work in every country. I think Hyderabad’s performance is the most impressive performance of the England team. We won in Pakistan 3-0, we played well in New Zealand. So Bazball is a mentality that is driving the game forward,” Stuart Broad said, as quoted by IANS news agency.
Under the leadership group of captain Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, England havegone on to win 14 Tests out of 20, losing just 5 in the said period.
Even captain Stokes hailed England’s win in the Test series opener in Hyderabad as their greatest in the Bazball Era.
The tourists spend the 9-day break between the second and the third Tests in Abu Dhabi, enjoying downtime with family. The two teams are scheduled to arrive in Rajkot on Monday and begin preparations for the 3rd Test, which is set to prove decisive in what has been an enthralling series so far.
