Il numero uno d’Italia ha superato facilmente il round contro l’amico e compagno di Coop Davis mostrando uno stato di forma ottimale e la capacità di poter giocare un tennis di altissimo livello anche sulla terra rossa dopo la già convincente prova offerta sul mattone tritato di Montecarlo, dove l’avventura si era conclusa in semifinale contro Stefanos Tsitsipas dopo una decisione errata dell’ giudice di linea che ha condizionato il terzo set.

Quello di Madrid sarà il primo confronto tra Sinner e Kotov che non si sono mai affrontati in precedenza. In caso di ulteriore successo per Sinner, al turno successivo ci sarebbe uno tra Ruud, Mensik e Auger-Aliassime e così via fino in semifinale con un possibile incrocio con uno tra Nadal, Medvedev e Shelton. Prima però bisognerà superare Pavel Kotov nel match in programma domani in mattinata (orario ancora da definire) per puntare al successo a Madrid come testa di serie numero uno.
