Weather maps are predicting that snow could fall in parts of West and North Yorkshire later this week, as winter’s ‘final fling’ hits the UK.
Snow maps by WXCharts show snow is forecast to hit parts of West and North Yorkshire on Thursday (February 22), including Huddersfield and Skipton, with some parts of the region continuing to see light snowfall on Friday and into Saturday.
According to WXCharts, snow will begin to fall in Yorkshire from 3pm on Thursday.
Snow maps show that the white stuff will begin to fall at around 3pm on Thursday in Huddersfield and surrounding areas, before arriving in Skipton and surrounding areas of North Yorkshire at around 6pm.
Snow will continue to fall across Skipton until around midnight, with the outlook becoming clearer in the early hours of the morning.
Snowfall between 0.2cm and 0.6cm per hour is expected in Yorkshire – a lot less than the heavy snowfall which brought parts of Yorkshire to a standstill earlier this month.
According to WXCharts, snow will arrive in Yorkshire from 3pm on Thursday (Feb 22)
But The Met Office has been less specific about the chance of snow arriving in the county later this week. Their forecast for Yorkshire between Wednesday and Friday (Feb 21-23) says: “Wet and windy weather looks set to continue through the rest of the week. Spells of rain and blustery showers look likely, interspersed with drier interludes. Feeling colder by Friday.”
The forecasters’ long range predictions Yorkshire says the region can expect unsettled conditions throughout the rest of February and into the first weeks of March, with some snow possible.
