Congress will not win even 30 seats: Himanta

Taking a dig at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the first time he held the yatra, Congress lost three states and this time, the whole country will slip out of his hands.

He predicted the Congress will not even win 30 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections while the BJP’s tally will go past 370.

Sarma was addressing a rally in Adilabad today on the occasion of the launch of Vijay Sankalpa Yatra by Telangana BJP.

He attacked the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of indulging in politics against Hindus. He blamed the Congress saying they did not allow the Ram Mandir to come up in Ayodhya. “ The politics of Congress is not for Hindus. When Ram Mandir was constructed in Ayodhya Congress (leaders) were invited to the inauguration saying that it was no political meeting but Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge did not turn up, ” said Sarma.

He took several jibes at Rahul Gandhi, even wondering if he was ”brainless”.

“When Rahul Gandhi embarked upon Bharat Jodo Yatra, he lost three states and now he will go around a little bit more and the whole country will slip out of your hands,” said the BJP leader.

He also accused him of dabbling only in lies and added that the Congress came to power in Telangana by making false promises. “None of the guarantees of Congress worked. Only one guarantee works in this country – that of Modiji,” thundered Sarma who as usual was provocative referring to the minorities as Babars and Razakars.“Razakars will get reservation in jobs. Who says this? Congress and BRS. Separate budgets for Razakars who says this? Congress and BRS,” he said.

Then he went on to add that, ”The Congress will not get even 30 seats. Congress will get votes only from Babars and Razakars.” Sarma, who is as popular as UP chief Minister Yogi Adityanath among local right wing groups, also ruled out any alliance with the BRS.

“Every time there is an election, Congress and BRS say that there will be an alliance between the BJP and BRS but I want to tell you there will be no alliance. We will fight on our own strength and win in Telangana,” he said.

Another key BJP leader Bandi Sanjay also warned that ”the state BJP workers would beat up party leaders if any suggestion of an alliance with BRS was made”.

Addressing a rally at Tandur while kicking off the Vijaya Sankalpa yatra, the MP from Karimnagar asked the gathering to totally reject the idea if any politician dared to speak about the possibility of a BJP-BRS alliance”. He blamed BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao for the leaks in the media.
