Shakira Talks Attending Her First Met Gala and All the Latino Representation This Year | THR Video
Shakira, it’s your first Met Gala. Thank you. It’s so lovely to see you, how you feel, so much excited. This is different. This is my first Met Gala. I’ve been invited before, but it could never make it. So I’m finally here and I’m excited to see so many of my colleagues tonight. I love your song with Cardi B. What was it like with her rapping and singing in Spanish? She’s so good. She’s. She’s amazing in Spanish, as good as in English. She’s just so witty and ingenious and and and humorous too. You know, I just got that sense of humor and I what I love about her is that she’s so unapologetic. You know she doesn’t ask for permission to say what she has to say and to express herself and that is that is the. The ultimate, the ultimate woman of today. You know, there’s so many Latinos here. You’re here. I mean, penélope Cruz is here. Bad Bunny in jail or Co chairs. What are your thoughts on the. Yeah, I can’t wait to see her. Yeah. What are your thoughts on all the Latino representation here? Well, it’s amazing, right? How? How things have changed for us like when I when I first started, it was so hard, you know there wasn’t there wasn’t a real recessivity to our to Latin music and they were the gatekeepers of like radio and and TV who were deciding who get played and who wouldn’t. But now people decide and so many doors have opened for us Latinos. But yeah, when I I remember when I when I crossed over to to this market, it was it was a real challenge to get my music played on the radio, you know? Yeah, you’re selling out tours. What’s one thing you can tease from your tour? Because we can’t. It’s gonna be the physical encounter between my my fans and me, those fans and that audience. I have supported me so much through the good and bad.
