Es war die Niederlage zu viel: Nach dem 3:4 n.P. gegen Ajoie am 6. November muss Trainer Patrick Emond gehen. Servette hat nur 7 von 23 Partien gewonnen. Dem Kanadier hilft auch die ruhmreiche letzte Saison mit der schon fast märchenhaften Final-Qualifikation nicht mehr.

Keine Zuschauer, kein Abstieg, keine Investitionen: Meistens muss er ohne Ausländer auskommen. Oft hat er nur einen Junior im Tor. Der 12. und letzte Platz ist unter diesen Voraussetzungen unvermeidlich. Aber den Letzten beissen die Hunde: Er bekommt im Frühjahr 2021 keinen neuen Vertrag und wird arbeitslos.

Nun schreibt Rikard Franzén zusammen mit Jan Cadieux und Louis Matte in Genf eine Erfolgsgeschichte. Nachdem sein Vertrag in Langnau nicht verlängert worden war, kehrte er nach Schweden zurück. «Für mich hatte eine Rückkehr in die Schweiz erste Priorität.» Ein paar Angebote aus anderen Ligen habe er abgelehnt. Dann kommt der Anruf von Servettes Sportchef Marc Gautschi.
Der Trainerwechsel bedeutet nicht eine neue Generallinie. Louis Matte arbeitet schon seit 2003 in Genf, ab 2008 als Assistent des Cheftrainers. Jan Cadieux, der Sohn der Trainerlegende Paul-André Cadieux, steht auch schon in seiner dritten Saison.

Der Trainerwechsel ist in diesem Falle also eher ein kleiner Handgriff mit maximaler Wirkung. Die Leistungskultur ist intakt. Es braucht keine Revolution. Keinen Neuanfang. Es geht mehr um Justierung des Spiels, der defensiven Ordnung und Disziplin. Der Wiederherstellung der Balance zwischen Offensive und Defensive.
Jan Cadieux, Louis Matte und Rikard Franzén neigen auch durch ihre Erfahrung als Assistenten zur Teamarbeit. Zur kollektiven Führung. Keiner war schon mal ein berühmter Cheftrainer. Keiner hat das persönliche Profil eines Bandengenerals, der alles kann. Einen Konflikt der Egos gibt es nicht. Ideale Voraussetzungen, wenn es darum geht, Kontinuität zu wahren. Wenn nicht alles auf den Kopf gestellt werden muss. Evolution statt Revolution.

Vor dem Trainerwechsel kassiert Servette pro Spiel mehr als drei Tore. Seit dem Trainerwechsel sind es weniger als zwei. Zugleich ist die Torproduktion von 2,5 auf über 3,0 angestiegen. Oder noch einfacher: Das Torverhältnis lautete vor dem Trainerwechsel 58:80. Nun ist es ausgeglichen (109:109).
Hier ist die Handschrift von Rikard Franzén zu erkennen. Der langjährige Weggefährte von Taktik-Hexenmeister Heinz Ehlers kann taktische Schulung. Dazu gehört die Kunst, das Spiel ohne Scheibe zu lehren: Wenn sich alle richtig verhalten, die den Puck nicht haben, ist die halbe Miete schon bezahlt.
Die Frage ist interessant: Wo wäre Langnau, wenn Rikard Franzén geblieben wäre? Aber eben: Hinterher sind alle klüger und nach dem Krieg ist jeder Soldat ein General. Dass es nach einem Trainerwechsel aufwärts geht, ist oft nicht nur der Verdienst der neuen Führung. Sondern auch des abgesetzten Patrick Emond: Er hat eine intakte Mannschaft hinterlassen.

Ob ein Kommandowechsel etwas bringt, hängt oft mehr vom Umfeld als von der Persönlichkeit der Trainer ab. Sage mir, ob ein Trainerwechsel etwas bewirkt, und ich sage dir, in welchem Zustand sich ein Hockey-Unternehmen befindet.
Sportchef Marc Gautschi hatte darüber nachgedacht, auf nächste Saison Sam Hallam als Cheftrainer zu verpflichten. Doch der Schwede wird nächste Saison neuer Nationaltrainer in seinem Heimatland. Nun könnte das Triumvirat mit Jan Cadieux, Louis Matte und Rikard Franzén die Lösung für die Zukunft sein. Ein Triumvirat ist ein Bündnis von drei Personen, die das gleiche Interesse haben.
