The message of Vice President Sara Duterte for the 38th anniversary of the EDSA Revolution posted on Sunday night has been removed from all her social media accounts.

In a now deleted post, Sara urged Filipinos to continue upholding the EDSA spirit and to stand up for what is right.

“On this day, we commemorate the brave souls who stood united on the streets of Edsa, fighting for democracy and freedom,” Sara said in the message that has since been taken down.

“As we celebrate this momentous occasion, let us remember the lessons of EDSA—the power of unity, the strength of the Filipino spirit, and the importance of standing up for what is right,” she added.

GMA News Online sought for explanation from the Vice President but she has yet to respond as of posting.

The Office of the Vice President has also been asked to release an official statement on the matter.

The EDSA Revolution on February 25, 1986 resulted in then-President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. stepping down from power after 20 years in Malacañang.

He was the father and namesake of the incumbent President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Sara’s running mate in Eleksyon 2022.

Marcos over the weekend said the public should read everything on history from multiple sources and decide from there what is good or wrong.

“Huwag kayong magbabasa ‘yung isa lang bagay, basahin niyo lahat. Ang turo sa akin ng lola ko, sabi niya, magbasa ka ng kahit na ano at ikaw nang bahala na mangilatis kung ano ‘yung maganda o ano ‘yung hindi tama, and that’s what history can guide us with,” he said in a statement.

(Do not read just from one source, read everything. My grandmother taught me to read anything and decide and discern for myself what is good or what is wrong, and that’s what history can guide us with.)

“Because we have experienced this before. Politics is essentially about the human condition, it is about an ideology that you hold dear, a principle that you will not compromise, that you can help the people, so you can be of service to the people. Not to yourself, not to your party, not to your family, but for the people,” he added. —NB, GMA Integrated News
