Selepas 5 tahun hilang, keluarga Ruth Sitepu mahukan kepastian

PETALING JAYA: Keluarga Ruth Sitepu, warga Indonesia yang hilang bersama suaminya, Joshua Hilmy, di negara ini lima tahun lalu mendesak kerajaan supaya memberikan kepastian yang jelas mengenai kes terbabit.

Ruth dan Joshua, seorang lelaki Melayu-Islam rakyat tempatan yang memeluk agama Kristian dan menjadi pastor, kali terakhir dilihat pada 30 Nov 2016.

“Kakak saya datang ke Malaysia untuk bekerja dan menyara kami. Namun, dia hilang bersama suaminya. Bahkan setelah bernikah dan pindah ke Malaysia, dia tetap berhubungan dengan kami (keluarganya) melalui telefon.

“Kami tidak mendengar khabar mereka sejak dari itu dan kami juga belum berkomunikasi dengan mereka. Tidak ada seorang pun mengetahui di mana mereka sekarang,” kata keluarga Ruth dalam kenyataan.

Keluarga itu berkata, mustahil mana-mana individu yang hilang tidak dapat dikesan jejaknya.

“Bahkan jika pihak dari Malaysia menemui ahli keluarga kami (Ruth) sudah tidak bernyawa, kami hanya mahukan kepastian yang jelas tentang di mana (dia berada).

“Kami memohon agar jenazahnya dapat dipulangkan kepada kami kerana tidak mungkin seseorang hilang begitu saja tanpa jejak apapun,” kata keluarga itu.

Keluarga itu berkata, mereka tetap akan menunggu hasil inkuiri awam Suruhanjaya Hak Asasi Manusia Malaysia (SUHAKAM) mengenai kehilangan Ruth dan suaminya.

“Kami menantikan hasil inkuiri awam oleh SUHAKAM dan kami berharap akan ada kejelasan tentang apakah yang terjadi terhadap kakak kami dan suaminya,” kata keluarga itu.

Inkuiri awam mengenai kehilangan Ruth dan Joshua bermula sejak 18 Feb tahun lepas.
