Ayodhya: The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has taken special approval from central government for making a 68-kilometre greenfield bypass, in a bid to decongest Ayodhya and adjoining areas, with an investment of Rs 3,570 crore. To cover Lucknow, Basti and Gonda districts, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has invited bids to make four or six land highway.

After the inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, an increase of passenger and vehicular moment is expected in the region and for that North Ayodhya and South Ayodhya bypass is intended. The said bypass would be built on the basis of public-private partnership (PPP) model. According to the estimates, the traffic in the region is expected to shoot straight to 2.17 lakh per day, from 89,023 daily.

Sources told The Times Of India that special approval has been sought as the finance ministry has asked the road ministry not to go ahead with any new project under Bharatmala for the time being. Sources added that since the project costs over Rs 1,000 crore, the ministry needs to get approval from an apex committee that appraises PPP projects. NHAI wants to finish construction in two-and-a-half years.

Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha

The ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the Ram Lalla in Ayodhya was held amid huge celebrations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the main rituals officiated by several priests. On this occasion, people celebrated across the country to mark the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla.

Nearly 2.5 lakh to 3 lakh devotees visited the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on the first day of its opening and many more are awaiting the darshan, state government officials told news agency ANI. “Till afternoon, 2.5 to 3 lakh devotees have paid obeisance in the temple and a similar number of them are remaining. Over 8,000 policemen are overseeing the arrangements and everything is under control,” an official told PTI.
