MANILA, Philippines: The UST Golden Tigresses began their post-Eya Laure with a 25-19, 25-23, 25-22 sweep of the NU Lady Bulldogs in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, February 18.
Cassie Carballo tossed 20 excellent sets and added six points to lead UST, which started strong and held its ground amidst NU’s fightback in the ensuing sets.
UST begins post Eya Laure-era with sweep of NU
Regina Jurado fired 12 points including the clincher as Jonna Perdido produced the same amount of points and Angge Poyos chipped in 13, with the trio stepping up to fill the void left by Laure, who emerged as their top scorer last season.
Alyssa Solomon pumped 16 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed, not playing to their usual level of play in the past two seasons.
