Schwab-Organisation entscheidet für die Schweiz und gegen Singapur: Das Weltwirtschaftsforum 2022 findet im Januar wieder in Davos statt

Das World Economic Forum 2022 geht wieder in Davos GR über die Bühne. Damit endet eine lange Ungewissheit auch für Hoteliers und Gastronomen. Nicht zuletzt wegen Corona.

Singapur verliert in letzter Minute das World Economic Forum (WEF), die Schweiz geht als Gewinnerin aus den harten Verhandlungen hervor: Das WEF findet 2022 wieder im Landwassertal statt. Das Bündner Bergdorf Davos kann aufatmen!

Lange haben die Organisatoren des Weltwirtschaftsforums die Bündner zappeln lassen, ob das Gipfeltreffen der Mächtigen, Reichen und Schönen in Davos durchgeführt werden kann. Bis zuletzt war auch Singapur als Austragungsort im Rennen. Die Hoteliers haben vor einem Schwab-Rückzug gezittert. Er wäre einem Verlust in Millionenhöhe gleichgekommen.

2021 nur virtuell

2021 fiel das WEF der Corona-Krise zum Opfer. Stattdessen führten die Organisatoren eine virtuelle Konferenz durch. Jetzt geht es wieder ganz physisch um die grossen Themen: die WEF-Veranstaltungen finden vom 17. bis 22. Januar im Davoser Kongresszentrum statt.

Unter strengen Sicherheitsauflagen, das versteht sich. «Das Wohlbefinden von Teilnehmern, Mitarbeitern, Dienstleistern und Gastgebern hat Priorität», heisst es in einer Mitteilung der Veranstalter.

Angepasste Covid-Massnahmen

«Daher arbeitet des WEF eng mit den Schweizer Behörden sowie Experten und nationalen und internationalen Gesundheitsorganisationen zusammen.» So wolle man angemessene und dem Covid-19-Kontext angepasste Massnahmen treffen.

Details dazu sind noch nicht bekannt. Gilt 3G, 2G oder gar nur 1G? Der Zugang für Geimpfte, Genesene oder Getestete ist sicherlich noch ein Diskussionspunkt.

«Weitreichende Veränderungen»

Gründer Klaus Schwab (83): «Die Pandemie hat weitreichende Veränderungen mit sich gebracht.» In einer Welt voller Unsicherheit und Spannungen sei der persönliche Dialog wichtiger denn je.

Und weiter: «Führungspersönlichkeiten haben die Pflicht, gemeinsam das Vertrauen wiederherzustellen, die globale Zusammenarbeit zu verstärken und an nachhaltigen, ehrgeizigen Lösungen zu arbeiten.»

Auch in Bundesbern ist die Freude ob des Entscheides für Davos gross. «Es ist sehr wichtig für die Schweiz und die internationale Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft, dass das Jahrestreffen des WEF erneut in Davos stattfindet», sagt Bundespräsident Guy Parmelin (61). Gerade in Krisenzeiten sei der persönliche Dialog zwischen allen Akteuren unerlässlich.

«Eine grosse Freude und Ehre»

In Davos ist man einfach nur stolz. «Es ist Davos eine grosse Freude und Ehre, dass das World Economic Forum und seine Gäste im Januar wieder nach Davos kommen werden», sagt Landammann Philipp Wilhelm (32). Insgeheim hat Davos wohl mit dem Zuschlag gehofft. Denn: Vorbereitungsarbeiten sind seit Wochen und Monaten im Gang. «Nach dem erfreulichen Entscheid werden sie weiter intensiviert», sagt er.
