New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday slammed Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali over the apology it published in the newspapers and questioned if they were published in the required format. The bench expressed its anger over the ‘E-filing’ of the apology. It said the court wanted physical filing with all the original copies of big apologies published in newspapers.
“You should have filed the original in newspapers, why copies? We insisted so that we can get an idea of size of apology advertised,” the apex court observed.
The bench told Patanjali Ayurveda’s counsel that the PDF format of the apology does not comply with their order and the whole paper has to be published. This comes days after the top court had refused to accept the unconditional apology by Patanjali Ayurveda in misleading ads case.
Apart from the, the lawyer for Patanjali and Ramdev brought to notice an interview given recently by Indian Medical Aassociation (IMA) President RV Asokan in which he said it was “unfortunate” that the Supreme Court criticised IMA and also the practices of private doctors.
“The vague and generalised statements”, he added, “have demoralised private doctors. The lawyer said such irresponsible statements when proceedings are on matter is subjudice. We are going to fie a contempt petition.”
To this, the bench asked him to bring it on record. “We will take judicial notice. They will have to face the consequence .This is more serious than what has been happening till now.Be prepared for more serious consequences,” it added.
