Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation president responds to contract vote result
I was in Tisdale tonight with Northeast teachers and I couldn’t wait to get home to share my thanks to all of the teachers across Saskatchewan for your engagement and for your attention and your due diligence over the last three weeks. I have been absolutely blown away tonight by the strength and the resolve that you continue to show in this fight for public education and for our students. The government wants to say that your voices have been silenced, but we are listening to you and you are providing us our direction at every step of the way through bargaining. It is government who isn’t listening. We need to see action, We need to see improvements and they need to take this process seriously. We can find solutions that work for everyone here in Saskatchewan, but most importantly, they need to work for our students. An invitation has been sent to the GTBC asking them to get a new mandate and return to the bargaining table as soon as possible. We don’t want to see additional sanctions, but we need to see improvements. Enough is enough. Take this process seriously. We can get to an agreement. It doesn’t have to be this hard.
