SAS lost 744 million kroner in the last quarter

In the fourth quarter, SAS lost 744 million Swedish kroner. In the same period last year, it lost 2.6 billion. The fourth quarter is the period August-October.

From November 2020 to October this year, the airline has lost more than 6.5 billion. The full-year result last year was a loss of 9.2 billion. Continued uncertainty surrounding the corona situation has hit the airline’s income.

Turnover in the fourth quarter is close to 5.8 billion, up from 3 billion in the third quarter. The result before tax is a loss of 945 million, which is far better than the loss of 3.3 billion in the previous quarter.

“It is pleasing to see that the positive trend from the summer continues with increasing demand and ticket sales. 2021 was nevertheless one of the most challenging years in the history of the aviation industry, and the future is still difficult to predict primarily due to the challenges associated with the ongoing pandemic,” SAS CEO Anko Van der Werff stated.

The number of passengers increased in the fourth quarter, as did ticket sales. As a result, capacity increased by 43% from the third quarter, while the number of passengers increased by 73%.
