Detroit Lions officially re-sign three exclusive-rights free agents

The Detroit Lions announced on Monday that they have officially re-upped with a trio of exclusive-rights free agents.

According to the team, running back Craig Reynolds, offensive lineman Kayode Awosika and linebacker James Houston are all now under contract for 2024.

Back in March, the Lions placed an ERFA tender on all three, so it was pretty much a foregone conclusion they’d all return. Here’s what Over the Cap has each making in 2024, assuming they stick:

RB Craig Reynolds: $1.125 million

OL Kayode Awosika: $985,000

OLB James Houston: $915,000

Reynolds has spent the last three seasons with the Lions and once again served in a backup role in 2023, working behind fellow backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.

A former sixth-round pick of Detroit in 2022, Houston has spent time between the active roster and practice squad during his career. He actually saw 11 defensive snaps in the NFC title game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Like the other two, Awosika will return to a backup role next season. Originally an undrafted free-agent signing of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021, the 25-year-old has played snaps at both guard positions the past two years.
