El gobierno salvadoreño del presidente Nayib Bukele oficializó la noche del lunes la celebración de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe en San Salvador, que se realizarán del 23 de junio al 8 de julio con la participación de 5.000 atletas de 37 países de la región.
Bajo el eslogan “Es momento de trascender”, el presidente del Comité Organizador de los Juegos, Yamil Bukele, presentó oficialmente el logo conformado por siete estrellas de diversos colores. Indicó que los colores tienen un significado simbólico al representar un proceso de transformación del país con su gestión.
“Estas estrellas de nuestro logo representan: progreso, confianza, prosperidad, esperanza, energía, innovación y valor”, detalló Bukele.
En el evento deportivo regional se espera la participación de 5.000 atletas de 37 países. Competirán en 433 pruebas, de 32 deportes. La subsede de Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, albergará seis deportes.
Esta es la tercera ocasión en que El Salvador será sede de los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe. Las anteriores fueron en 1935 y 2002.
“Este es un momento mágico ya que no solo representan al pueblo de El Salvador, ustedes han de representarnos a todos”, dijo Luis Mejía, el presidente del ente regional Centro Caribe Sports.
Las ceremonias de apertura y clausurase llevarán a cabo en el Estadio Nacional Jorge “El Mágico” González.
