In a move to secure its market share, Samsung Electronics is aiming to diversify its mobile lineup by releasing colorful new versions of its Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phones.
On Wednesday, Samsung Electronics said it sent out invitations for its Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 event to be held online on Oct. 20.
Unsurprisingly, it didn’t unveil exactly which products it will showcase. However, the company is expected to release new color versions of its Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phones. Samsung didn’t give much in the way of hints in the invitational letter, but the announcement will be more about “custom specifications” for Galaxy devices, which is similar to those seen in the company’s BESPOKE customizable home appliances.
“Our users are multifaceted and live life in so many colorful, interesting and unique ways. As such, the technology they use every day should reflect their individuality. Join Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 on October 20 to see how Samsung is opening up new experiences for self-expression through technology,” the company said in the letter.
Chances are also there that the company may introduce the Galaxy S21 Fan Edition (FE) smartphone, which was expected to be released within this year, and the Galaxy Tab S8, reports said. “While it was previously reported that Samsung had delayed the launch of the Galaxy S21 FE, it is now rumored that the device could be unveiled during the upcoming event and will launch a few weeks later.”
Investors’ focus is on how Samsung will elaborate its specifics regarding the company’s mobile phone sales as its phone business was affected by the continued global supply chain twist. Plus, increasing chip prices putting further pressure on its mobile business division’s bottom line.
Overall smartphone shipments are expected to reach 1.38 billion units this year, up 7.7 percent year-on-year, a recent forecast by the International Data Corporation (IDC) showed. Samsung maintained the top position in the global smartphone market as of the second quarter of this year with an 18.8 percent share. However, China’s Xiaomi is catching up with Samsung with a 16.9 percent share during the same period.
Samsung is pinning high hopes on its foldable technology and it is on track to release more budget foldable phones to secure its share bottom line, said analysts.Internet Explorer Channel Network
