Samsung Galaxy F55 India launch in early May; 5G phone to come with vegan leather finish

The Galaxy F55 5G will launch in India in early May, Samsung announced today. The F55 will notably be the first Samsung phone in India to have a vegan leather finish. It will come in two colours and one of them is confirmed as orange. Basis of the available information, there’s an off chance that the F55 could be a rebranded Samsung Galaxy C55 5G from China.
It makes perfect sense. The C55 is in fact the Galaxy M55 5G with a vegan leather back panel. And if history is any indication, the F55 will share a lot of its hardware with the M55. Samsung hasn’t shared any spec yet but the teaser reveal suggests design will be its big USP.

The F55 will be sold across Flipkart, Samsung online and select retail stores upon launch. the exact date of launch is yet to be announced but it couldn’t be far considering that Samsung is eyeing the early May window. One of the phones confirmed to launch in India during the same period is the Vivo V30e, which will be launched in May 2. Another big-ticket launch will be the Google Pixel 8a, which is expected to land in India alongside global markets around mid-May with a formal announcement pegged for Google I/O on May 14.
But coming back to the Galaxy F55, if it turns out to be a rehashed Galaxy M55, we can expect it to come with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support. For photography, it could have a trio of sensors on the back with a 50-megapixel wide, 8-megapixel ultrawide, and 2-megapixel macro. The front camera could be a 50-megapixel.

Running the show should be One UI 6.1 based on Android 14 and we can expect the phone to be eligible for four years of major OS and five years of security updates.
The C55 price in China starts at CNY1,999 which roughly translates to Rs 23,000. The Galaxy M55 price in India starts at Rs 26,999. Stay tuned for more updates.
