Anda pasti pernah dengar tentang telefon pintar yang kalis air. Ia boleh dibawa masuk ke dalam kolam atau dibasuh dengan air paip. Tetapi tahukah anda, kerosakan akibat air tidak dijamin sepenuhnya oleh pengeluar peranti sendiri?
Di Australia, Mahkamah Persekutuan telah mengarahkan Samsung untuk membayar AUD14 juta (~RM42.6 juta) kerana kempen pemasaran yang mengelirukan. Iklan tersebut menunjukkan bahawa telefon pintar Samsung yang kalis air, boleh digunakan di dalam kolam dan di pantai. Tetapi, laman web Samsung sendiri menasihatkan pengguna agar tidak menggunakannya di tempat yang sama.
Iklan tersebut telah berjalan antara Mac 2016 sehingga Oktober 2018, berkenaan telefon pintar Samsung siri Galaxy A, Galaxy S7 dan Galaxy S8. Ia kalis air IP68, bermakna ia boleh tenggelam di dalam air untuk beberapa waktu dan dinyatakan Samsung selama 30 minit sedalam 1.5 meter.
Tetapi sebenarnya, kekalisan air ini hanya untuk tenggelam di dalam air segar, bukannya untuk air masin (seperti di laut) dan air kolam renang yang penuh dengan klorin.
Suruhanjaya Persaingan dan Pengguna Australia (ACCC) telah menyaman Samsung kerana iklan yang mengelirukan ini pada tahun 2019 dan kini Mahkamah Persekutuan Australia mengarahkan Samsung untuk membayarnya.
Pengerusi ACCC, Gina Cass-Gottlieb menyatakan bahawa mereka telah menerima ratusan aduan daripada pengguna Galaxy tentang telefon yang rosak selepas masuk ke dalam air. Mereka mendapati, masalah besarnya adalah pada port mengecas. Apabila telefon digunakan di dalam air masin atau air klorin kemudian dicas sebelum kering sepenuhnya, ia boleh terhakis dan rosak.
Laman sokongan Samsung Malaysia menyatakan bahawa baik pulih percuma hanya diberikan jika peranti didapati mengalami masalah dengan fungsi kalis air peranti. Jika ia berfungsi dengan baik, bermakna peranti digunakan melebihi had yang dibenarkan sehingga air masuk ke dalamnya. Malah, fungsi kalis air juga mungkin lebih terhad jika dimasukkan di dalam air dengan suhu di bawah 15℃ atau melebihi 35℃.
Jadi ingat, jika anda memiliki peranti kalis air, gunakannya di dalam air segar sahaja yang tidak masin dan kurang klorin. Selain itu, jika anda melihat iklan atau kempen pengeluar yang mengelirukan, boleh cuba membuat aduan ke portal eAduan KPDNHEP.
