Saman sekolah RM4.17 juta kerana rambut anak

Lansing: Seorang bapa dari Michigan, Amerika Syarikat (AS) menuntut ganti rugi AS$ 1 juta (kira-kira RM4.17 juta) kerana mendakwa ada guru sekolah memotong rambut anak perempuannya yang berusia tujuh tahun tanpa kebenaran.

Sky News melaporkan Jimmy Hoffmeyer menamakan sekolah, pustakawan dan pembantu guru di Michigan sebagai defendan dalam saman berkenaan.

Dia turut mendakwa berlaku diskriminasi antara kaum, intimidasi etnik dan gangguan emosi yang disengajakan dan penafian hak perlembagaan terhadap anak perempuannya, Jurnee, lapor

Lembaga sekolah tempatan menyifatkan tuduhan itu tidak berasas.

Hoffmeyer memberitahu Jurnee yang berdarah campuran, tiba di rumah dari Sekolah Rendah Ganiard di Mount Pleasant pada bulan Mac dengan banyak rambut di satu sisi kepalanya sudah dipotong.

Menurut Hoffmenye, Jurnee memberitahu rakan sekelas memotong rambutnya di bas sekolah.

Aduan dibuat kepada pengetua dan rambut Jurnee dipotong semula di salun.

Dua hari selepas kejadian di dalam bas, Jurnee kembali dari sekolah dengan rambutnya juga dipotong.

Kali ini, anaknya memberitahu guru pula yang memotong rambutnya untuk mencantikkan gaya rambut.

Hoffmenye mendakwa murid dan guru yang memotong rambut anaknya itu adalah individu berkulit putih.

Lembaga sekolah tempatan di Mount Pleasant memaklumkan siasatan bebas tidak menunjukkan sikap berat sebelah.

Kakitangan, murid dan keluarga disoal siasat selain video serta gambar disemak termasuk siaran di media sosial.

Hoffmeyer memberitahu bahawa dia dan anak perempuannya yang kini bersekolah di sekolah lain tidak pernah ditemu bual.

Siasatan mendapati dasar sekolah dilanggar ketika rambut Jurnee dipotong walaupun tindakan itu berniat baik.

Difahamkan, ada dua kakitangan lain menyedari kejadian itu tetapi tidak melaporkannya.

Bagaimanapun, kesemuanya sudah membuat permohonan maaf.

Tuntutan saman itu antara lain mendakwa pihak sekolah gagal melatih, memantau, mengarahkan, mendisiplinkan dan mengawasi pekerjanya dengan betul.
