Detroit Lions’ NFL draft history with No. 205 overall pick

Their second-to-last pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Detroit Lions hold the No. 205 overall selection, which is one of two picks they have in the sixth round.

The Lions have had No. 205 overall a whopping five times in franchise history. Three of those picks, back Rick Kaser out of Toledo (1954), guard Walt Gurasich out of USC (1958) and wide receiver Allyn Griffin out of Wyoming (1986), didn’t play a snap for Detroit.

The first semblance of a return the Lions got with that pick came in 1991, when the team selected TCU running back, Cedric Jackson, who tallied 17 carries for 55 yards over eight games (one start). That was the only action of his career.

Detroit was once again on the clock at pick 205 in 2017 and took defensive lineman Jeremiah Ledbetter out of Arkansas. Ledbetter, who is still active, played in 16 games during his lone season with the Lions (0 starts) and totaled 0.5 sacks and 14 tackles.

After failing to make the roster in 2018, Ledbetter latched on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played in four games over two seasons. Ledbetter signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022 and played in a career-high 17 games (two starts) in 2023. He didn’t have a sack but did tally a career-best 24 tackles (one for loss). Ledbetter remains on the Jaguars’ roster going into 2024.
