For those who know Big Ten football, the names J.T. Barrett and Antwaan Randle El likely ring a bell. Barrett led the Ohio State Buckeyes to numerous conference championships and never lost to the Michigan Wolverines. Indiana’s Randle El was known for his incredible mobile skillset, unlike anything college football fans had ever seen from a quarterback.
Both of their playing days are over but they’ve earned a spot to compete for an NFC Championship in the NFL this year. Both former Big Ten QBs are on the Detroit Lions coaching staff as they prepare to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Barrett is an assistant quarterbacks coach while Randle El coaches wide receivers, the position he transitioned to as a pro.
Randle El has the ninth most total yards in Big Ten History with nearly 4,000 rushing yards. Barrett is the Big Ten’s all-time leader in total yards with 12,697. He also helped the Buckeyes win the first-ever College Football Playoff Championship during the 2014 season.
