King and Harry not meeting 'speaks volumes'
What do you make of this? I was gobsmacked. Absolutely gobsmacked. I can’t understand it. I’ve spent 35 years reporting on this family and still they astonished me at every turn. You know, perhaps it’s because I I’m very close to my family that I can’t comprehend how with your younger son, for all that has happened, coming over from the States, and you can’t even share a croissant with him, You know, the king is busy. He has got engagements and he’s still under treatment for cancer. But still there must have been a window of opportunity. So I think it speaks volumes about the the depth of the rift. It would be a pot of tea, genuine with me, a croissant. Would it come on, It would be quite it would be quite British. But All in all seriousness, what does this signify then? That that that there’s there’s still animus between them that’s been going on for years now. Well, it’s very hard to avoid that conclusion. Look the the the king is in a slightly weakened state because of his cancer treatment. He does have engagements tomorrow. He has private meetings all morning. Is then hoping to attend the first of the series of garden parties at Bucking Palace. He then has his weekly audience with Rishi Sunak. So yes, he is busy, but as I say, I’m sure there must be 15 minutes here or there. I mean, the last time Harry came over, the last time he saw his father immediately after the cancer diagnosis, he he got on a plane and flew straight over specifically to see his dad. And even then Charles could only spend between half an hour and 45 minutes with him. But I absolutely believed I was certain that there will be a meeting this time. I don’t know the reasons. I wonder if it is a sense of loyalty to William and Katherine. I mean, the rift with William is far, far deeper, irreparable. I think we’re always told that Charles would hold the door open for Harry. And, you know, I firmly believe he loves his younger son. His darling boy is used to call him so. I don’t know what the reason is, but it’s it’s murky, it’s peculiar, and I just don’t get it.
