Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of April 28

In Ukraine, there have been 88 combat clashes on the front line over the past day. The enemy continues active assaults in the Donetsk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Russian attacks

Overall, the Russian Army launched 32 rocket strikes and 64 airstrikes, as well as conducted 60 shelling attacks from multiple rocket launchers on the positions of our troops and civilian areas.

During the night, the Russian army once again attacked Ukraine, deploying 4 Shahed-type UAVs and 5 UAVs of an unidentified type. With the efforts of Ukraine’s air defense forces, all Shahed-type UAVs and 1 UAV of an unidentified type were destroyed.

During the past day, the following settlements were affected by airstrikes:

・Strilecha, Synelnykove, Vovchanski Khutory in the Kharkiv region;

・Serebrianske Forestry Area and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region;

・Terni, Yampolivka, Oleksandro-Shultino, Spirne, Chasiv Yar, Druzhba, Oleksandropil, Shcherbynivka, Semenivka, Yevhenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Novokalynove, Arkhanhelske, Novozhelanne, Karlivka, Paraskoviivka, Kostiantynivka, Vodiane, Urozhaine, Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region;

・Krynyky, Ivanivka, Kizomys in the Kherson region.

Over 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv Oblasts were under artillery fire.

Frontline situation

In the Volyn and Polissya directions, the operational situation remains largely unchanged.

In the Siversk and Slobozhanske directions, the adversary maintains military presence in border areas and conducts sabotage activities to prevent the movement of our troops to vulnerable directions.

In the Kupiansk direction, 13 attacks were repelled by the military in the areas near the settlements of Kyslivka, Berestove, and Kopanky in the Kharkiv region, as well as Novoyehorivka and Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian army launched 14 attacks in the areas near Nevske, Serebryansky Forestry Area in the Luhansk region, and Terni in the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 8 attacks in the areas near the settlements of Spirne, Viyimka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, and Novyi in the Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, our defenders repelled 35 attacks near the settlements of Novokalynove, Keramik, Umanske, and Netailove in the Donetsk region.

In the Novopavlivka direction, our military continues to hold back the enemy near the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Vodiane, Paraskeviivka, and west of Pobieda in the Donetsk region, where the enemy attempted to breach our troops’ defense 13 times.

In the Orikhiv direction, the enemy attacked our positions twice in the areas of Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the enemy did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions during the past day.

Enemy losses

During the past day, the Defense Forces’ aviation struck 14 areas where the enemy’s personnel were concentrated.

Throughout the day, the Defense Forces’ aviation struck 16 areas where the enemy’s personnel were concentrated.

Missile troops units inflicted damage on 1 command post and 2 enemy radar stations.

According to ISW data, the Russians are exerting pressure on most fronts in the Donetsk region, but the Armed Forces are repelling attacks and assaults by the Russian army.

Thanks to military aid from the US, the Defense Forces have a chance to stabilize the front and begin a limited counteroffensive against the Russian army by the end of the year.
