La Fédération internationale de rugby a entériné la fin de la “Loi Dupont”.

La Fédération internationale de rugby a annoncé de nouvelles règles, actant ainsi la fin de la « loi dupont » mais aussi des mêlées après un coup-franc.

L’instance mondiale du rugby a annoncé jeudi 9 mai l’abandon de l’option pour les équipes de demander une mêlée après avoir obtenu un coup franc, afin d’accélérer le jeu sur le terrain. Les nouvelles règles prendront effet au 1er juillet, a ajouté World Rugby.

Une pénalité à la main après un coup-franc

Après un coup franc, une équipe n’aura comme choix que de jouer la pénalité à la main ou au pied, plutôt que de demander une mêlée qui ralentit le jeu.

World Rugby a aussi entériné la fin de la « loi Dupont », baptisée du nom de l’international français, qui remettait en jeu des coéquipiers en position de hors-jeu sur les relances au pied quand un adversaire avançait avec le ballon ou faisait une passe.

Désormais, les joueurs hors-jeu devront activement reculer afin de créer des espaces pour l’équipe ayant le ballon, et empêcher les successions de relance au pied qui reviennent à l’adversaire.

L’instance a en outre interdit la « prise crocodile » (crocodile roll en anglais), une action potentiellement dangereuse qui permet de dégager sur le côté un joueur protégeant le ballon sur un ruck en le prenant par la poitrine. La faute sera sanctionnée d’une pénalité.

Une nouvelle loi sur le carton rouge

World Rugby a par ailleurs annoncé l’expérimentation d’une nouvelle loi sur le carton rouge : un joueur exclu le restera mais l’avantage numérique ne durera que 20 minutes après quoi il pourra être remplacé.

Cette nouvelle règle sera appliquée lors de la Pacific Nations Cup en août et la compétition féminine WXV en septembre.

«Â Je pense que ces amendements et (leur mise en place) dans des matches dans un avenir proche vont améliorer le facteur divertissement », a expliqué le président de l’instance internationale, Bill Beaumont.

«Â Comme pour toutes les expérimentations, nous étudierons leur efficacité avec soin », a-t-il ajouté.
