Marcos vows better working conditions for state workers

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday pledged to enhance the working conditions of government workers during the awarding rites of the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Outstanding Government Workers of 2023 in Malacañan Palace. 

“In Bagong Pilipinas, we want to increase their tribe, in line with our efforts to build a resilient government driven by agile and future-ready civil servants. This government will always support efforts that will improve your welfare,” Marcos said in his speech.

“Let me reiterate the administration’s commitment to enhance your—to support and work and enhance your working conditions to support professional development in civil service,” said Marcos.

During the ceremony, three types of awards were handed out: Presidential Lingkod Bayan, the CSC Pagasa Award and the Dangal ng Bayan Award.

According to the Palace, these are the highest awards that a government worker could receive.

“When these public servants see opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the people they serve, our awardees respond with audacity, turning bold ideas into reality.  You go the extra mile to provide creative and innovative solutions to emerging challenges, such as in the areas of food security, education, social development, climate and disaster resilience, science and technology, and financial literacy,” Marcos told the awardees.

There were several awardees, including Fernando Viado, a mechanic for the City Government of Antipolo. He had a work-related incident and became partially deaf.
