Royal Family: Kirstie Allsopp claims Kate Middleton confronted Meghan Markle over 'bullying'

Kirstie Allsopp has slammed Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex over their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The television presenter called the couple’s decision to take part in the interview while the Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, was ill in hospital, “just appalling”.

She went on to defend Kate Middleton over claims made by Meghan in the interview that the Duchess made her cry before her the royal wedding.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Kirstie said: “Everyone knew he [Prince Philip] was dying in January, but they went ahead and did the Oprah interview anyway. Just appalling.”

She continued: “Kate never ever loses her temper, but she found out Meghan was being rude to staff at Kensington Palace and she was angry with her.

“Then, Kate burst into tears because she’d lost control and she did take Meghan flowers to try and patch things up.”

The infamous row, which took place in May 2018, just days before Meghan and Harry’s wedding, was addressed by Meghan publicly for the first time in the Oprah interview.

Meghan claimed that despite the papers reporting that she had made Kate cry, she was in fact the one who cried during the argument.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed that the argument was about flower girl dresses, but Kate had later given her flowers and a note to apologise.

She said: “A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining – yes, the issue was correct – about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.”

Meghan continued on to deny she had made Kate cry saying: “No, no. The reverse happened.

“And I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding.

“And she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised.

“And she brought me flowers and a note, apologising. And she did what I would do if I knew that I hurt someone, right, to just take accountability for it.”

The Duchess of Sussex has also denied any claims that she bullied her staff and a spokesperson for her has said that she is a victim of a “calculated smear campaign”.
